Arizona’s marijuana laws remain largely unchanged since the state legalized recreational marijuana use in 2012.
However, Arizona has changed its marijuana possession law to allow anyone under 21 to possess up to an ounce of marijuana, and a new law allows anyone 21 and older to possess as much as two ounces of marijuana at home.
Marijuana use is still a criminal offense.
The state’s marijuana legalization initiative passed the state legislature in 2016 and became law in January of this year.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said that police departments will be allowed to enforce the new law through the use of a special unit.
The unit is comprised of two officers, a sergeant and a narcotics detective.
“The law enforcement agencies that will be utilizing this special unit are the Arizona State Police, the Arizona Department
